LE PROGRAMME 2009
Mardi 28 Juillet 2009 à 15h04 par admin1
2009 is exceptional because, to the great delight of music lovers, this year is not only the 250th anniversary of the death of Handel, but also 200 years since that of Haydn. Ton Koopman, our artistic director, has therefore awarded them a privileged place in the programme.
On the 20th June you are invited to a Pastorale, a real little opera, based by Peter de Groot on several works by Lully and performed by the children’s choir Dordogne Perigueux. Under the direction of Ton Koopman this semi-theatrical concert is a once in a life time chance to appreciate the remarkable quality of the work of these children.
This summer the Itineraire Baroque has a surprise for you: Baroque en Cercles, on Friday 31st July. The idea is to bring all festivalgoers together in a special place, the opposite to the Saturday Itineraire. On that day the village of Cercles and its abbey church will be the centre of the festival: somewhere for concerts, picnics, conferences and stalls, where everybody can intermingle: a festive day which you can organise as you wish.
Itineraire Baroque this year has new locations, including Brantome, the Venice of the Perigord, as many of you have suggested. Brantome hosts the opening concert which will unite Ton Koopman, Tini Mathot and Klaus Mertens.
For our faithful festival supporters the actual Itineraire is on Saturday 1st August. This promenade from church to church and concert to concert will start from the gardens of Brantome Abbey and will continue through the charming Romanesque churches of Valeuil, Boulouneix, Paussac, St. Julien de Bourdeilles and Leguillac de Cercles.
As well as promising young musicians, Itineraire Baroque has invited, as every year, plenty of well-known talent: the London Hayden Quartet, Eric Hoeprich, Il Gardellino de Marcel Ponseele, the counter-tenor Patrick van Goethem, the Voix Humaines, Klaus Mertens, the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Choirs as well as the very British Classic Buskers, to name but a few.
I wish you all an excellent Itineraire Baroque 2009.
